As Support for Health Care Slips, President Obama and the Democrats are Lashing out |
|
In July 2009, five polls from major polling organizations pointed to growing American opposition to President Obama and the Democrats’ health care reform overhaul. The heart of the matter remains that the American people are continuing to object to government
interference in their health care choices. Americans maintain they want the freedom to determine their own important health care decisions like choosing doctors, care, and insurance plans.
In a recent opinion column in USA Today, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer characterized recent opposition in response to the health care reform plan in townhalls across the United States as “un-American.” Pelosi and Hoyer state, “These disruptions are occurring because opponents are afraid not just of differing views – but of the facts themselves. Drowning out opposing views is simply un-American.”
The Democratic Party is charging that “anti-reform mobs “are simply “right wing extremists – funded by special interest lobbyists, and directed by GOP operatives – who are out to disrupt any thoughtful conversation about reform.”
Democrats are lashing out in a last ditch effort to save their fledgling health care overhaul plan. Make sure that over the month of August you get in touch with your Congressional Members to let your voice be heard on this important issue!
