WCRW June Meeting 6/11: “What Makes a Marriage?”

2011 June 4

The Minnesota legislature recently voted to put a constitutional amendment on the 2012 ballot that would define marriage as between one man and one woman. This vote caused a lot of contention and was not a strict party line vote with four house republicans voting against the amendment. Washington County Republican Women is proud to be the only  organization that is presenting both sides of the issue to the public during our upcoming meeting on Saturday, June 11th at 9:00am a the Lake Elmo Inn in Lake Elmo, MN.

We will be welcoming Ken Smoron and Broc Dobervich of the Log Cabin Republicans of Minnesota, and a Representative from the Minnesota Family Council to speak on behalf of both sides of this issue. If you would like to hear more information on the amendment or show your support for either side, this is your chance! WCRW encourages and supports a respectful discussion on this topic.

WCRW’s new officers will also be sworn in during the meeting, and we will be voting on our national affiliation. Only paid members will be eligible to vote. If you would like to participate, please make sure to pay your dues for the 2010-2011 session as soon as possible.
