Washington County Republicans will Welcome Leaders of GOCRA – Gun Owners Civil Rights Alliance
2013 January 3
Gun Owners Civil Rights Alliance
The first meeting of the new year, on Saturday, January 12th – 9:00am – at the Lake Elmo Inn in Lake Elmo, Minnesota, WCR will be hosting speakers Bryan Strawser & Rob Doar of GOCRA (Gun Owners Civil Rights Alliance). Since the terrible tragedy in Newton, Connecticut there has been a cry for tighter gun control, and stricter laws concerning gun ownership. Television personality Piers Morgan is gaining attention calling for more gun laws. Reps. Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.) and Diana DeGette (D-Colo.) will introduce a proposal Thursday, the first day of the 113th Congress, to ban high-capacity… ammunition magazines like those used last month in the Newtown, Conn., elementary school massacre. In December, the Journal News, a suburban NY newspaper, published online maps with the names and addresses of pistol permit holders in two counties. Newspaper publisher Janet Hasson has since hired armed security, and says that guards have been posted at its White Plains headquarters and in a satellite office in West Nyack since last week. How will this all affect legal gun owners, and conceal & carry permit holders? What are our civil rights concerning guns?
What is GOCRA?
Gun Owners Civil Rights Alliance, the Minnesota organization behind CCRN (Concealed Carry Reform Now!). People from all walks of life who have banded together to preserve and protect all of our civil rights as gun owners.
What has GOCRA done?
With the support of gun owners like you, we have:
– Passed the Minnesota Citizens’ Personal Protection Act — one of the best carry laws in the country — twice!
– Passed the Range Protection Act, ensuring that current and future generations will always have places to practice not only the shooting sports but Self Defense as a fundamental human right.
-Monitored the Minnesota Legislature and defeated multiple attempts to limit gun rights
– Prevented gun registration under the guise of “closing” the gun show “loophole”
– Killed anti-gun amendments to other bills – Lobbied for “Stand Your Ground” legislation to enhance Minnesota’s self defense protections
– Educated legislators on issues important to voting gun owners
